CBD Investing – My CBD Cert Resources

Investing in CBD can be a great way to be a part of this growing market. As in any investment, there are ways to participate. One way is a “friends and family” investment in a CBD product company whether a farm, extractor, product company, online site, etc. This is high risk but can pay off if you pick the right company and people. Investing in publicly traded companies is an option although you need to invest in Canadian or offshore companies and the US does not support it.

Some of the largest CBD companies are:

● GW Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: GWPH)

● Charlotte’s Web Holdings (OTC: CWBHF)

● CV Sciences (OTC: CVSI)

● Canopy Growth is spending $150 million on a hemp-processing facility in New York State, and also acquired Colorado-based intellectual property company ebbu in November, which can aid the development of CBD-infused derivatives.

● HEXO announced the formation of a U.S. subsidiary a few weeks ago, with its quarterly report noting its intention to push CBD products into eight U.S. states in 2020.

● Tilray acquired North American hemp foods company Manitoba Harvest for about $310 million in March. Aside from gaining access to a distribution network of more than 16,000 retail stores, Tilray can use this network to develop and sell CBD products in the United States.

Info

Investing in CBD is no different than in any other market. You can invest in public companies, private equity, venture capital, or friends and family. Investing in public vehicles is generally companies that are on the cannabis side that may also offer CBD and for now, are Canadian-based. Private equity is typically large firms with investments in the seven-figure and up range. Venture capital is typically in the five-figure range. For this investment, you need to be an accredited investor. Friends and family investing is the highest risk but has the potential for a great return. You need to do your homework and trust the company. These investments can be in any area of the supply chain: farms, extracting, products, or companies on the retail sales side. The CBD market, as it is still very new and can be volatile. Things are changing at a high rate so pick and choose wisely.

Stats

● In 2014, even though very few states had legalized CBD, there were still 108.1 million CBD sales.

● By the end of 2018, when 7% of Americans admitted to using it, sales had increased to 358.4 million. Due to many contributing factors, these numbers are expected to grow even further, with predictions of 813.2 million sales of CBD by the end of 2019.

● One study investigating CBD oil use in older adults who were at least 54 years of age found that 9% of them regularly used CBD oil. This is higher than the national average. ● Brightfield Group sales of CBD products in the U.S. alone are slated to grow from $591 million in 2018 to $22 billion by 2022.
